Latino education experts to gather in Texas

Challenges and strategies in a tight budget will be key topic

WASHINGTON, DC -- The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund is sponsoring the NALEO Education Leadership Initiative's National Institute on School Governance: Budgeting Strategies for Student Success, taking place March 4-6 at the Sheraton Austin Hotel in downtown Austin, Texas.

This is a timely and in-depth discussion of the challenges and strategies that education leaders face while focusing on student achievement and success in tight budgetary circumstances.  As the nation's second-largest student population group – half of K-12 students in Texas public schools are Latino – the educational attainment of Latino students is tied to the future success of the state and our nation.

The Austin gathering will include panels on prioritizing funding decisions and strategies to understanding complex school district budgets.

All sessions are open to the press.  For more information and to RSVP, please email Patricia Guadalupe at pguadalupe@naleo.org or call (202) 546-2536.
